The Seahawks strength of schedule goes from the 11th easiest in 2025 (not too far removed from the middle of the pack) to the14th strongest (again, near the middle of the pack, but now on the strong side) which is a jump of 8 places in total strength of schedule. That might be enough to prevent the Seahawks from repeating their super bowl win.

Yes, don't get me going on how the money has ruined college football. CAL (and Stanford... my 2nd school) often has to travel to the East Coast to play ACC division games so we might get 9AM start times or if Fox wants to televise home games, they can start after 8PM. If it is a regular ACC team playing at CAL, it is 11PM kickoff on their local clocks. I doubt college budgets and study needs allow days to get over jet lag mixed with a late or early start.

I loved the old system when I was in college where you wake up, sober up from Friday night, eat a big dorm breakfast then go to the game and party there and into Sat. night... Now 36 or so years sober, I still enjoyed the 1PM games and hate the 8PM start times for home games because I try to get to bed by 10:30 the latest on Saturdays and I think some games went until 11:30.... and hard to get to sleep if they were exciting.

In addition to the temperature, Cal playing 3 hours out of their home time zone after a 6 hour flight with only a few days to acclimate gave the Hawaii team an advantage.

The Hawaii team faces the same disadvantage when playing away games.

It seemed to me the two defenders could have knocked the ball down or intercepted but they didn't want to crash into each other so the ball got through for the game winning touchdown. I wished they showed more angles but it seemed to be a low budget game in a small stadium.

Kudos to Hawai'i for not giving up after looking like they were being run over in the first quarter and sad for the epic meltdown by a once great CAL defense. Perhaps it was the heat that CAL was not accustomed too?

The Hawaii Bowl was INSANE!

Hawaii, down by 3, on Cal's 22 yard line with just 13 seconds left in the game.

Their QB had limped off the field the prior play.

They kick a field goal to tie it to go to overtime, right?

Nope.

They send out their backup QB, and he throws a 22 yard pass to win it.

There were a lot of awesome plays by both teams.

Hawaii was down 21-0 earlier in the game.

Doing some math here, I predicted the Giants and Jets to be a combined "over 12" for the 17 game season. So far, five games in, they are at a combined 1.

This means they just have to win another 6 games each to make my prediction a reality. For a while I was starting to get worried I had over estimated. Phew.

The Vikings went 14-3 last year, added 2 good OL and 2 good DL, lost a good CB, probably upgrade at QB (but maybe downgrade because JJ is unproven).

How does that add up to a .500 team????? Their line is 8.5. That seems way out of whack.

They face the 5th toughest schedule, but last year they weren't slowed down by the 4th toughest schedule.

The Seahawks went 10-7 last year. Now they add the Kubiak machine. The running game will be dominant. But Vegas thinks they're going to get worse and slip below .500 (7.5 wins). I don't see it.

Vic Fangio is the godfather of NFL defenses right now and he has a lot to work with. He'll fix the Eagles defense. This is an elite roster.

Detroit's offense has been good (best OL in the league, great offensive coordinator), and now Jameson Williams and Jahmyr Gibbs are ready to be unleashed and take this offense to juggernaut status. The defense is improving, especially the DL.

Everybody agrees the Jets have an elite defense. Now the offense has a massively upgraded OL, QB upgrade from trash to Hall of Famer, Breece Hall & Garrett Williams are superstar talents.

Just eyeballing it, I think Pittsburgh is better than 9.5 (say 10 or even 11), the Cardinals can only dream about getting as many as 4.5 (I'm thinking more like 1 or 2, if that), Houston, Los Angeles Rams and Indianapolis are all over respected with those win totals, and Jacksonville Jaguars are also too high. Buffalo Bills are too low... And one last one, Carolina Panthers might struggle to reach 7.5... Just my opinions...
