Nutrition for infants,  children and adults is still shockingly bad with horrific consequences. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Just one example = vitamin D in most people is far too low leading to defective immune systems and growth defects. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Meanwhile,  today Lenovo in The new Zealand Herald is being advertised by Harvey Norman. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;My excitement is because 35 years after first thinking of Fourier in chips to make spectrum efficient to enable Cyberspace,  and 37 years after meeting Karl Michel our neighbour in Antwerp who is a solid state physicist who told me about his friend who was developing optical fibre,  Lenovo which is run by a very admirable man is selling laptops using Qualcomm&amp;#39;s Snapdragon which is running AI aka It.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;We&amp;#39;re finally there.  Quarter of a century ago,  extrasomatic intelligence was becoming possible at the edge and in the cloud.  That&amp;#39;s not long compared with how long it took the wet chemistry biological realm to develop enough to do it.  Half a century or maybe a century is not long compared with a billion years. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Heck,  even if we go back to the invention of iron,  copper,  magnetism,  electron flows, wheels and stone hammers is only a few thousand years. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;But the process is exponentially parabolic to asymptotic hyperbole.  So while figuring out how to smelt iron,  make steam engines and invent thermodynamics was a slow process taking thousands of years and the industrial revolution took 100 years,  since relativity theory got going we&amp;#39;re now in supersonic development speed. Powered by 7 billion people. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;The sky&amp;#39;s the limit. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;With Snapdragon, Lenovo,  Grok and the other Its,  7 billion people,  millions of whom have powerful brains,  the process has gone critical (in the sense of sufficient uranium going critical in nuclear reaction).&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;We&amp;#39;re at launchpad with liftoff. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Elon worries about It.  I don&amp;#39;t. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Sure,  It&amp;#39;ll go bad in horrific ways just as always.  But in the long run,  Good wins because parasites, destruction and Evil can only exist off the host that&amp;#39;s Good.  It&amp;#39;s a theological matter.  I say teleological.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;The four forces of the cosmos gave rise to the four nucleotides of biology which brewed for a billion years feeding off dead star elements, giving rise to biological intelligence, which brewed for forty million years giving rise to clever people operating in bigger,  bigger and now global communion.  &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;That process was relentless,  merciless,  inevitable.  Luddites, Ted Kaczynski and others oppose the process. But opposing gravity and the electromagnetic glue is a bad idea. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;I hasten to add that my patented GSRS graviton spin reversal system which will make gravity a two way street is not yet past the prototype stage,  but it&amp;#39;s looking good.  So opposing gravity in the right way is a good idea. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;So congratulations yet again to Dr Irwin Jacobs and his wonderful QUALCOMM team who enabled It. It pleases me to come across people who recognize and support the technical capabilities of IS-95 CDMA. I am generally aware of CDMA&amp;#39;s data capabilities such as being able to offer data transmission at ISDN speeds. In fact, Sprint PCS has indicated it will offer ISDN-rate data transmission sometime in the future (for more information, see the Inter@ctive Week article "Sprint Indicates Future Direction" at  &lt;a href='http://www.zdnet.com/intweek/daily/961030c.html' target='_blank'&gt;zdnet.com&lt;/a&gt; &lt;img src='images/external.png'&gt; ). Another example is NextWave Telecom&amp;#39;s subsidiary TELE*code which plans to offer wireless data services to such organizations as utilities for the purposes of meter reading. In addition to these capabilities of IS-95 CDMA, I believe the potentially most important is the possibility of IS-95 CDMA being able to offer data transmission at 384 kbps which would allow for video of some quality. Many old timers here will remember. &lt;/i&gt;&amp;gt;  Bill Frezza is still around though his last post was a few months ago:  &lt;a class='ExternURL' href='http://www.huffingtonpost.com/bill-frezza/' target='_blank' &gt;huffingtonpost.com&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;It was over a decade ago, last century,  and in fact 17 years ago that Frezza and his GSM Nazis Hagfish slimeballs were attacking the CDMA Mafia with false claims about CDMA capacity, who invented it back in 1890 and whether "ve vill deny them their reqvest".  &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&amp;lt;&lt;i&gt;I am posting today to say my defense of Qualcomm and the CDMA Industry was not just some spontaneous defense on the part of an enthusiastic supporter but a carefully planned strategy to prevent the GSM Industry from blocking Qualcomm&amp;#39;s access to the marketplace.&lt;/i&gt;&amp;gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Unfortunately, GSM&amp;#39;s carefully planned strategy did block CDMA from the market place.  Europe was ring-fenced and gone.   The Euroserfs were bound to a more expensive technology, with 16% royalties payable to the GSM cartel.   Now they are bound to the W-CDMA cartel and the extorquerationate 12% royalty.   Soon they will be entangled in the LTE swindle at 12% royalty.   George Gilder thought it would be a good idea to do away with royalties on CDMA to help promote it.   I explained that the royalty was trivial and irrelevant.  Thank goodness Qualcomm did not agree with him.   They gave it away too cheaply as it was.   Qualcomm left $100 billion on the table just in Europe&amp;#39;s 3G spectrum auction.   &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;The great advantage of GSM was the SIM, which unlike in the CDMA realm enabled handset owners to swap service providers.    Qualcomm tied subscribers as hostage to the service provider in walled gardens.   GSM also got economies of scale ahead of CDMA.   The advantage of spectrum efficiency was simply to trivial compared with the 2 year cost of owning and using a phone.   &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;No doubt you helped defend CDMA but I doubt that Frezza&amp;#39;s Forum held all that much sway in deciding the outcome of CDMA vs GSM. I stumbled across it when doing a Lycos or AltaVista search on &amp;#39;Qualcomm&amp;#39; a few weeks after you founded the board and just before Nils Mork-Ulne founded the original SI Nokia board. I had just become a friendly user in BAM&amp;#39;s CDMA Trenton NJ trials which were about to commence and a few months earlier I had made the first of several trips to Cannes France to attend GSMA&amp;#39;s 9th annual GSM World gathering of GSM network operators where my then company was exhibiting along with perhaps at most a hundred or so other companies involved in the digital mobile wireless industry. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;A lot has certainly transpired since then. By 2006 GSM World attendance had outgrown Cannes and in 2007 Barcelona Spain had become host to GSMA&amp;#39;s annual exposition which became 3GSM World and then the Mobile World Congress (MWC). MWC 2013 kicks off this evening at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;a class='ExternURL' href='http://www.mobileworldlive.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/mwc-vid.png' target='_blank' &gt;mobileworldlive.com&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;The expo doors open tomorrow morning and the event will conclude on Thursday. 2012 saw MWC&amp;#39;s largest ever attendance -- more than 67,000.  Fira Gran Via is significantly larger than MWC&amp;#39;s previous Barcelona location, and all exhibition halls are now under one roof. Over 70,000 people are estimated to be attending this year&amp;#39;s expo, including around 3,500 members of the press, 12,000 mobile developers. and the staffs of 1,500 exhibitors who will show off their new kit and devices at the expo.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Dr Paul Jacobs Qualcomm&amp;#39;s Chairman &amp;amp; CEO, Hans Vestberg the CEO of Ericsson, and Stephen Elop the CEO of Nokia are all Keynote speakers at the event. It is very good.    But there are now millions of netbook/notebook computers [same thing just a slightly different size] with built in CDMA with the iPad the current world champion, selling by the million.    &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Since those faltering steps back in the mid 1990s, CDMA-powered "Smartphones" are now the dominant cultural development on Earth.   The pdQ was the initial effort.    The pace is quickening as $trillions are at stake.    The automobile industry is now taking second cultural place to mobile Cyberspace.    &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;It is being recognized that it is not just the cost of fuel and the financial crisis which is pushing aside the century-long love affair with cars.   Young people are Cerfing into Cyberspace.    From Zygote in 1996 to Zeitgeist in 2011.    Things don&amp;#39;t come any bigger than this.  &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Meanwhile, Eudora is fondly remembered and I live in hope... social media is a mess.    Eudora could rescue us from the chaos.   &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Globalstar failed dismally.   There was total mismanagement of marketing combined with dead satellites due to bung design.    They were reduced to simplex data transmission.   SPOT being fairly successful in that.  &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Now though, the second Globalstar constellation is being launched, albeit with a momentum wheel design fault.   Hopefully they fix that BEFORE they launch the rest.    Their marketing ideas are still defective, but not as bad as the first effort last century.   There is also a spectrum dispute with the FCC and other problems too such as the local yokels resisting Globalstar gateways.   &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Swarms of people have become very rich from CDMA and the businesses which have been enabled by it.  &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Now LTE is gearing up, running on OFDM  = orthogonal frequency division multiplexing which was just a gleam in Flarion&amp;#39;s and other&amp;#39;s eyes in Y2K but is now gearing up to take over from CDMA.    Unfortunately, it, like W-CDMA, is burdened with GSM Cartel royalties of about 12% compared with CDMA&amp;#39;s 4% average which did a better job, cheaper.    Qualcomm&amp;#39;s OFDM technology with low royalties was rejected by too many people to go it alone.    Fortunately, even 8% extra royalty on the devices is not much over the 2 year total cost of ownership, so it&amp;#39;s not such a big deal. Economies of scale exist, with cyberphones soon to be selling by the billion.  Already 10 million at a time is normal and 100 million a year if we include a wider range of DeVices.   Copying Apple is the wrong idea.   Doing things they don&amp;#39;t, such as making an outdoor mirasol DeVice with Globalstar and wifi links is better.  &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;With end of the Model T era, people will be wanting a wider range of vehicles.   There will be the high end Rolls Royce, Jaguar,  Ferrari, BMW, Audi, Cadillac, Lexus.     There will be the mid range fleets of Camry,  Commodore,  the SUVs, the vans, the light trucks,    There will be the "get you to the supermarket and work" cheap city commuter options.   Don&amp;#39;t forget motorcycles.   &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Prices will be going up as well as down. Anita [tm] features will be included in the high end first, working their way down to the low end.    &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;The car industry is fairly comparable.   People want fashionable personal transport options, not just a standard tool for getting around.     They don&amp;#39;t need either cars or cyberphones to last for decades.    Technology changes quickly and fashions do too.    For cars, 10 years is a long time.   For Cyberphones, replacements every 2 years is more likely.
