I've been out of SQNS for a while now, but listened half heartedly to their CC today. Can't say I miss them.
After being invested for probably close to a decade in them (right after their IPO) the story seems to remain the same.
I always thought their technology was solid and would be easy to sell. It seems that the market is taking much longer to develop and with supply constraints now pushing into 2022 ( 300 day lead time now needed?? Wow!) it seems like it will still be a while until they hit breakeven.
I will continue to follow SQNS and hope that someday their potential will be recognized.

Cannacord Genuity "fireside chat"

Lasts about 30 minutes. Not really anything new that I noticed. Has was asked about supply chain issues but dodged the question. Don't see anything really happening in the near term.

RE: Yayhoo on Yahoo is math impaired. Here’s links and math. But still interesting to note 10% holdings so …
FYI FWIW.
The guy can’t even read the SEC doc correctly
So, we have a new 10% owner just as AT&T executes a massive 4G IoT M2M device spend plan.

I recently bought back some of the shares I sold back in April. Feeling a little more optimistic at present. They have released their new Calliope chip, added GNSS to their Monarch 2 and had Monarch 2 certified in Japan. That is a pretty good setup for 2022.

Georges said it was his goal to have some type of agreement in place by the end of the year to offload much of the financing of the Taurus development to some other industry player(s) with deep pockets. Seemed like a short timeframe to put that type of deal together but who knows. If they do get it done it would change the complexion of their finances significantly and the stock could rally.

Hoping to see continued growth of IoT through 2022.

Hello Gary,

also bought some. "More" here instead of "back", sadly. Not sure a breakthrough is coming but it's again pretty low, with indeed some good news, including the decent last report.

These extra shares I probably won't keep, but 40% from here leads to about 6 bucks. Not extreme...

There is certainly a lot of uncertainty around Sequans, we have macro factors, supply chain, poor mgmt track record, growing debt, dropping cash on hand and a 5G money pit. I think the $4.xx share price reflects these risks.

But I think Cat-1 and Cat-M are inevitable in terms of large scale adoption and we are in the early stages of the ramp which should become more evident next year if the supply chain improves. Should lower the risks and see the share price rise IMO.

Good luck.

It does feel like this PR lowers the risks for the current year.
If Renesas gets some confidence in Sequans, some other investors should too...

Sequans to Expand 4G and 5G Partnership with Renesas

(...)
The combined value of the business agreements and the equity investment, which is expected to close by January 14, 2022 subject to customary closing conditions, is approximately $20 million.

The PR has been of more significance lately than it has been for quite a while. I do think 2022 will be better but I’ve thought that before. I wish they were more transparent RE the Renesas deal. Sounds to me like a straightforward share sale for the $20 million but SQNS does get better access to India.

I’m glad they will be flush with cash but George’s was talking about offloading some of the cost of 5G development with a partner, this sounds like a step down from that as we are all getting diluted (again).

Hopeful for 2022 and will buy more if it dips to the mid 4’s.

GLTA.

Sorry for some Off Topic-ing, but I am now quite optimistic for the semi stocks in the coming years, seems to me that the world is going to siliconize more & more, which is already kind of factored in some big names (NVDA, AMD,...). Some others, like MU which I own, have maybe some room to grow, but I am looking for some smaller names, which didn't realize their potential as of now.
Sequans is one of these, with the already discussed weaknesses.
Would you, Gary, and the other readers care to share other ideas?

From my side, I own and have hope for :
  • NVMI : materials metrology company. The more advanced fabs become, the more they need NVMI. 8 years owned, very very impressive management
  • INFN : photonics networking company. Technologically advanced, honest management, may have turned the corner
  • TSEM : Specialty foundry, with car and power perspectives

Thanks !
