Apparently you were absent the day your history teacher covered the Great Appeasement of 1787-- the day when parts of NY were given to NJ and FL in name only, but were in perpetuity to be technically considered as suburbs of NYC? Were you also not taught that when CT converted over to a state from a Commonwealth we were given dominion over all the other states? But, of course, I'm sure you can name three Kardashian sisters, right? Our educational system is failing us.

Haha, I read about that device as I writing my previous reply to you, there is a Wikipedia article about it. I read just the first sentence of the article highlighting its original purpose and what it's also used for, and I was like, what the....?

Apparently!

While I could name the Kardashian sisters, they've been almost impossible to avoid in the media over the last 15 years or so. I've never seen an episode of their show though, and never will.

A strong candidate for Odd Baseball Stat of the Year. Who tracks these things? Yelich was the last one to do this, is it you Gloop?

Dodgers' Ohtani snaps slump, achieves rare feat at plate

[excerpt]

LOS ANGELES -- Any thoughts about Shohei Ohtani entering a prolonged batting slump can be put to rest.

The Los Angeles Dodgers superstar had a day at the plate on Saturday that has happened only three times since 1909.

The Japanese slugger went 2-for-2 with two RBIs in the Dodgers' 5-3 win over the Milwaukee Brewers.

That seems pedestrian until seeing that in five plate appearances Ohtani had a home run, a triple and two walks and was hit by a pitch while also registering a stolen base.

According to MLB, Ohtani is the third player with a home run, triple, walk, hit by pitch and stolen base in a game.

The last player to do it was the Brewers' Christian Yelich on June 1, 2019, against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The first was Bert Daniels of the New York Highlanders against the Chicago White Sox on July 8, 1910.
