Beche de Mere is the common (?) term for the dry cured and prepared for export commodity. In its 'fresh' form the product, which is primarily composed of the sea slugs entrails-which it gags out when sensing threat, is sun cured and fermented--often in old coke bottles corked with a coconut fiber plug. The ultimate result is something that borders between sickening in smell and snotlike in texture, depending on how close one is tempted to venture. It is eaten after being poured into a bowl and the long fermented intestines, which are glisteningly similar to long snots are dipped up with a coconut frond rib and slurped noisily into the mouth; there is not other way---To the complete enjoyment and approval of those fortunate enough to be around them. One is likely to approach any cancer therapy which relys on the currently accepted forms of consumption with the exclamation, "Ehh Gadd if this the only cure, I'll contemplate the 'pleasures' of metatastic explosion."
