Well that turned from a mess to success --- I admit it sucked up some time. For about 2 years I have been trying to trace down a leak on a PS pump - turned out it was a seal on the injector pump. Went from a drip to making a puddle on the driveway. Jobber cost on a new pump is close to 3 grand - rebuild is 1200, plus parts, plus shipping, turn around time - weeks.

I elected to go through the pump myself.
Of the 50 million pumps made a small lot do not have witness marks to help with clocking and adjustment.

Turns out that was what I was dealing with, no witness marks, and things went down hill from there - what I ended up doing was getting the pump assembled and installed - managed to get the timing right, Started out with the pump hunting for rpm - all over the place, managed to get that squared away - then while driving it would hang - got that figured out after about 8 adjustments. Took the truck up hills - made some tweaks, did some load tests - made some tweaks, basically it felt like trying to super tune a Holley - only a diesel - and damn if the pump does not leak and the truck runs fine ..... different but fine. Be interesting to get it on a dyno - I may end up getting a new pump but I want to get out and play - end result made it worth the aggrevation and hassle.

Boy some parts are expensive.

Vancouver Island or perhaps that big wet island farther North .... bring it on.
