Mercifully, the heat alerts are being removed gradually as cooler air pushes in from the west. across BC But it was here long enough to dry everything out and greatly increase the risk of wildfires. This will be exacerbated because the cold front that is bringing us relief will also provide strong winds and dry lightning in the Interior.

So far only a few dozen new fires have ignited, and there has only been one evacuation order this week, but officials are preparing for much worse to come.
